Well the Kickstarter packages are already starting to arrive at people's doorsteps and unboxing reviews are starting to get posted up. Here's the first one I've seen. Ferb's Fighting Forces Blog - Dead ZoneThe comments on the restic mold lines suggest there is an improvement in most models.

My restic elves were pretty good from their KoW kickstarter. The horses were all warped and required re-heating to re-shape them. All the prep work really killed my productivity. The ogres looked pretty reasonable from a cleanup perspective. Kinda hit and miss for that one.
I didnt kick dreadzone, but I almost wish i had.

Looks like everyone else is getting notices for their Deadzone Kickstarter, so they should be receiving theirs shortly. Still no Kickstarter Love for CmdrKiley.

It took forever for me to get my KoW stuff, for both waves. Don't sweat it too hard, it'll get here (maybe)

Last night I received an email from Mantic notifying me that my order is being shipped, about 10.8 lbs of restic goodness.
My Warzone: Resurrection stuff is being sent without notification (and as many have described it, a happy surprise at their doorstep), I suspect the Deadzone stuff will arrive before my Warzone stuff does.

My stuff arrived Friday.
I spent a quite a bit of time going through the contents Friday night. I suspect that there may be some missing bitz, although I still haven't finished opening all the baggies.
Overall the detail on the minis is very sharp, the mold lines are still an annoyance. So far I'd say they are no worse than the human and orx figures that come in the Dreadball starterset or any of the MVP figures. Nothing as bad as the bugs or bots figures.

Definately go through the bags. They pack too many boxes when they do the kickstarters, and misspacks are common.
Best thing is though, they are really good at fixing it.

I've got a plague starter force coming from a trade I made with a guy in the Mantic forums. Looking forward to a demo Tom!

I had a few missing pieces, nothing major to be upset about, recieved email communication within 24 hours of filling out the missing part form.
I will be playing with Ben tonight at RIW if anyone else wants to play. I have plenty to lend...

I finished assembling the figures last night. Still need to mount them on bases.
I did find the Random Dreadball MVP last night, the Asterian Female Player. I'm pretty sure I'm missing a few Mercenaries (all I have is the flight stand for the psychic jellyfish, and I think I was supposed to get the male Forgefather merc and I have a few tiny bitz I cannot identify who they belong on). Also, I'm pretty sure I'm missing a few cardboard counters, the sheet was stacked on top of the terrain sprues and many of the counters popped out, I even found a number of them rolling around loose outside of the Deadzone box when I first opened the package.
Overall the scraping of mold lines wasn't too bad, I did have a shirt covered in shavings however. Fit was amazingly good for resin and details are crisp. Worst figure for cleaning mold lines was the Infected Terraton.
The terrain seems like the same type of ABS plastic that the old Starship Troopers and Warzone 2nd Edition figures are made from. I'd be curious if there is love or hate for them compared to all the hate generated for the SST figures. At least these are big and have snap together parts. The big complaint with the SST and Warzone figures were that they were not compatible with plastic model cement and broke away from the sprue bad due to brittleness.

Finished breaking down and assembing my Deadzone (first wave). Nice that the sturdy game box is so volumous that you can put not only the assembled and finished game pieces back in the box but a ton of more expansion material as well.
The terrain pieces are made of some pretty dense plastic too, ended up with a blister just snipping them all off the sprue. And the nice thing is this terrain will work well with so many other sci fi games I have. Also, I can probably use some of my Platformer and Hexagon parts too.

Well went to setup and try out a game at RIW today.
I learned that the terrain panels fit worth shite. There is so much dimensional variance in the holes and the pegs onthe connectors that you get some that snap together and hold, others that are too loose to hold and others that are too tight to snap together without the use of a tool and break when taken apart. Im told that using a small file one can clean up the mold line within the hole on the panel. Given my experience with modular terrain like Hexagon, Cyberclicks, and Platformer from Tehnolog and well pretty much every other toy or model that snaps together I find this unacceptable.
