So, the last 3 years, I have had a hobby goal to keep me focused and plow through the pile of models I have. I have managed to achieve those goals so far, and I have painted more stuff in the last three years than probably the last 20. Admittedly, I am no Kiley in terms of production, but then, I get sleep.
2010, and 2011, I painted my Fantasy Orcs and Goblins to the exclusion of all else. I managed to complete somewhere north of 600 models, but no characters, so although I have something like 4,000 points, I dont actually have a fully legal painted army.
2012 I painted 2,000 points of Tomb Kings. The army is fully painted and legal, but was maybe 63 models. There are some really big models in that total however, like the Warsphinx that took months of work, and centerpieces like the casket of souls, that took time.
I have so many options moving into the next year, I am kind of paralyzed by choice. Help me focus on one or 2 projects, and give me some justification why.
The goals that interest me: (in no particular order)
1. Dark Angels - Been playing 40k, new book comes out in January. I need to re-work my older models and add the new hotness anyway.
2. Mantic Elves - Got about 150 sitting in a box for Kings of War, with more due to come at the beginning of the summer for the rest of the kickstarter pledge. I have a good scheme in mind, and the thought of more coming with nothing done scares me!
3.) Cryx - Had the army for several years, worked out a decent scheme, but haven't touched paint to it in a while. I doubt I would finish, but it feels neglected, and I should show it some love with a couple units.
4) Back to the Orcs and Goblins with focus on characters to flesh out the army more.
5) Bump up the Tomb Kings to 2500 points , or 3,000 points legal. (this is the point value we normally play.
6) Other suggestions? (and no, I will not paint your stuff!)
