I saw these at Origins, are they worth the very high prices?
I am trying to find stats/rules etc for the different IG factions, anyone know which ones are in which book? or able to scan for me?

Value depends on the book. Forgeworld and 40k is a strange relationship. The later IA books are beautiful, and I have been tempted to pickup 9, 10, and 11 just to own.
Forgeworld has been "with permission only" for a very long time, and there tends to be a stigma against it. Much like use of special characters USED to be. Forgeworld was seen as expensive, and often out of balance with units in the main game.
This attitude has been shifting, as more forgeworld has found its way into the codecies, and more tournaments have allowed it.
I would hold off on IA books for at least the summer. The Apocalypse suppliment is due next month, and typically IA units make an appearance there. Alternatively, there are ways of getting the datasheets for the units without getting a book, if all you want is the datasheets. The main book to get is the Imperial Armour update, which helps convert the models from all the older books to 6th edition 40k.
As for forgeworld in the club? I am all for it, provided a copy of the rules is handy. Hell, I would even play against the superheavies, provided I know they are coming, and can plan for it. (A lone baneblade could ruin an entire army by itself if you dont know it is coming)

Yup. I also have digital copies of the books. They are not all that great, but they are readable. FW books are freaking beautiful.
The Warhammer fantasy Throne of Tamurkhan was well worth it. Was the cost of 2 army books.

I picked up some of the Talarrn cavalry and some of the Death korps and know they have some modified rules. They only had some of the books in stock and the FW rep told me to wait for the Apoc update that was coming very soon. So I didnt buy any vehicles and got the cav at a used model vendor.

Talarn cav? Interesting. Roughrider cav typically has the mongolian hats. Dont hear about many people using roughriders...

They seem a little over the top to me, Rage, I5/S5 weapon, Ferocious Charge, and some other abilities if you add in Mogul( Character dude).
The Talarn are on lizardish creatures, a cool sculpt.

Probably not that over the top. I bet they have no real armor save, and drop like flies to small arms fire. Probably a good distraction though, and yet another "in your face" model used with valkaries, or dropped troopers.

str7 on charge 3 attacks on charge, only a SV of 5+ like rest of IG, 10 pt models(not sure 0f Talaren, if there is a cost difference), If I remember the Toughness isn't any worse than normal IG, might even be slightly better.

Good little unit, pretty cheap too. Not over the top at all, you might have some trouble getting them in to combat. Would take some finesse to get them in range for an assault, but could be done on a densely terrained table.
Another thought for them is counter-assault. Lots of people like to assault IG since they cant out-shoot them. (Exception Tau) having the roughriders hanging out in the backfield as a counter punch makes them more surviveable. They wont be an in your face threat, so target priority drops significantly, and they live longer.
