So, I always do my best to spend my hobby dollars in a local brick and mortar store, with preference given to Pam at RIW.
I realize that I can gets stuff cheaper online, but if all the money goes online the local stores go away and that's a Bad Thing
I'm looking to pick up a couple of figures to have a playable Legion of Everblight force for Hordes.
I tried RIW on MAoW day, but she only has the most recent stuff, no older figs and everything I want is a basic piece that is needed to get the army to function well.
I drove all the way out to Gamer's Gauntlet, but they only have 1 or 2 of anything they have stocked, and the couple of pieces that they did carry that I wanted had empty pegs
I went to Pop! as it's on the way home from Gamer's Gauntlet and they were closed, on the Saturday after Xmas when everyone (like me) has giftcards to spend.
I then headed down VanDyke to Great Lakes Train & Hobby, who've dropped most of their Privateer Press and only really have GW for wargaming stock now.

So, short of going to Pando-land I've tried all of my local hobby shops and have been rebuffed in my attempts to spend money.
I guess it's going to have to be the War Store for my after Xmas mini-fix.
Dammit.

I've tried that about 4 times.
Got what I ordered once.
One time it never got ordered and once it went on the shelf, and something else happened the other time.
Maybe I'll try one more time.

All the terrain was given away. Only 2 game tables were kept. Everything in the store was 35% off and there wasnt much stock there to begin with.

It is unclear if he is even going to maintain a relationship with the mini distributors at this point. The goal is to dominate magic over Gamers Gauntlet.

I was up there on Friday, the last day that Phil owns the store. I plan on swinging by after it changes management, but it looks like Pop! Is dead to us.

To help you get it back on topic...

I too have had horrible luck ordering with RIW. Same reasons, either it never comes in (was it even ordered?), or if it did, it gets put on the shelf and sold. There's a large disconnect between who orders the item(s) and who receives the orders and stocks the shelves. There should be a list for the store showing special order items and who they are for, I think that's missing.

I also would easily give my money to RIW over ordering it online, even if it costs a bit more, but the fact is, with ordering online, at least I know there will be no mix-up with the order and I will get what I need (usually). If this process gets fixed, I will definitely give it another try, but until then, online is my best option for special orders.

Don't get me wrong, this is not meant to be critical of RIW, just pointing out an issue, that if ever resolved, would greatly increase RIW's $$$ intake.

Especially since RIW has gamers that are willing to put the store vefore the wallet.

Not getting the order right would be less of a big deal if it didnt take 40 minutes to get out there!
