Is everyone planning to switch to 7th by next month?
Are people holding off for a while? Im on the fence as to how fast im going to jump, largely influenced by my gaming groups.

I've played two games of it so far. It isnt too far of a leap from 6th to play it. There are some things that take a bit of remembering to do but nothing major. The Thursday crew at RIW seem to be changing over quickly.

Is there only a big rule book available, or did they do small ones again?

Yikes
85.00 for a single rule book (yes I know you get a fluff book and a pretty painting book but those are useless to the game) will they release a rules only version?

If the past is any model, then sort of.
In both 5th and 6th, they printed a big book with the rules, fluff and painting in it. 3 months later they released a starter set with a small form book with just the rules in it. 7th and 8th edition fantasy used the same model.
The starter set is rumored for August. There should be a full rulebook in there, which one will be able to get on ebay. Trick is, you have to wait. I skipped the big book in 6th, and bought a couple copies of the starter set. I'm tempted to do that again. Hence my question about how fast we are switching over.
The new starter set is supposed to be Blood Angels and Orks, neither of which I really need/use, so the starter has less value for me as a box. The 6th box had Dark Angels and Chaos, and the DA are my primary army so there was good value there. If I can get 25% off the rulebook somewhere, I will probably get the book and skip the starter box.

I heard rumor at RIW Tuesday (guy was there with the new book set) that no small book was forthcoming this time around.

I highly doubt that Chris.

Why? They could easily just stick a quick start guide in the starter box.

If they do have a starter set with Blood Angels, I will likely pick it up as they are my 2nd 40k army. If anyone plays orks and is going to go in on it, I'd split a couple box sets with them.

Hehe... After painting a million orcs for Fantasy, and having another million to go, I am going to do the prudent thing and NOT get into 40K orks....

I am willing to play both Standard force org, and Unbound games at the club. I enjoy Apocalypse, so it shouldn't surprise anyone that I like "mini-apocalypse"
It is probably going to be standard practice to bring a bound and unbound list to gaming nights.
I recently picked up a couple Forgeworld models for my Eldar, and I am looking forward to using them in games. I am not speaking of the superheavies or titans, but the regular tank variants that Forgeworld makes. I am now the proud owner of 2 Warp Hunters, a Wraithseer, and a Firestorm that once I get assembled I would love to try out.
