So here it is. An attempt to encourage myself to post the stuff I am have done. I will never be a Kiley, but i will attempt to be a Gabus.
So I have decided that this will be a SUMMER OF BUGS! I am going to paint a lot, if not all, of my Tyranids. This is a lot, however, I am going to go with a scheme that I already have many painted in from a trade. It is the dip method, but applied with a brush and doesnt look bad for tabletop quality. It goes fast too. I already did a test run of 10 termagants and I was able to knock them out in about 30 minutes of actual work. Dry time was much longer.
To start, I have primed around 145 bugs of various sizes today. I will post a pic as soon as everything is dry.

And here are a few more items I have done recently I love the new fortifications rules, so I am in the process of making some Necron themed fortifications. I looked at the FW Sentry Pylons, and while I really like them, I am not fond of the price. So I decided to make something that I could use as either a Pylon or a Vengeance Weapon. (NOTE: I will rarely use these as Sentry Pylons as my Heavy slots are always spoken for). Unfortunately, there are not many sources of inspiration out there for these types of conversions... Of course it is magnetized... Necron Quad AC proxy Necron Sentry Gun

Well, the green is all done. Other than the final basing colors, that is the most work. Up next is the red.

All the block colors are now on. Next step is to do the same with the newly primed stuff. I bit the bullet and bought some actual Army Painter Dark Tone to match the stuff I go in the trade that I am trying to match. Hope it works.

So the quickshade/wash is done on everything except the Shrikes. Saving them to do with the gargoyles. Now I need to do the bases, eyes and teeth. Here is where I run into a a couple quandaries. 1) Eye Color - I was thinking of doing Yellow or Black. They both have their pros and Cons, but I am leaning toward a shark-like black. All pupil. 2) Teeth - I really dont want to do White teeth. One, everything is green, red, or shades of brown. White just doesnt fit. I am also iffy on just leaving them quickshaded. It would be easier to leave them as is, but it just doesnt have a "pop" to them. Maybe I will just hold off on these for awhile unless anyone has a suggestion. When these are done, I will have my painted Nid army. Of course, there are always more things to get/add, so it will never truly end, but all these will be the only things i have ever taken before, so I can get a good army out of them. Future Plans - Lots of Gargoyles. The old v1 metal ones and new plastics. Shrikes - Finish these guys up. Green is already done on them. Tyranid Warriors - Do up about 9 of them. Zoanthropes - I have 3 converted and painted up, but have another 3 loose metal. May do these up. Raveners - Old v1 metal ones. Might as well paint these up, though I may never use them... Hive Guard - Have the old metal&FC ones and the newer plastic arms. Gotta strip the FC one first before converting up. More Rippers - I have A LOT more. Plastic, Forge World, and old metal ones. I could make a tide for fun. More Genestealers - Have a lot more of these also. Will have 20 painted already though. Buy to Fill holes - Crone, Biovores, Exocrine, Big FW stuff

Here we go... about 5000 pts of Tyranids all painted up and based. Still missing the eyes, but that is it. And of course, here is what is next on my plate. There are still about 30 more gargoyles not pictured as they are either being assembled or stripped. All together on a 2x4 board

Over the cold winter here in Michigan, where I cant prime, I like to put stuff together. Here are some of my nids Easy ones first. Need these guys, but also needed my Tyrannocytes. Next is my Old one Eye. Bunch of different kits here and wanted bring in a little of the metal model. Simple weapon swaps on my Buckies I wanted a Malanthrope. I had a spare Carnifex and a lot of bits... I also wanted a Barbed Hierodule. Not the biggest fan of the FW one, and saw a ton of great conversions here, so I made one. I think it should be close to the size, but not bulkiness of the FW one. Not sure. Comments and critiques welcome
